Story

Hopes? We're after specialities from India that live up to the billing and, let's be honest, the cost.
Reality? Yes. Some standouts, but the odd detail needs looking at. And the bill? The tasting menu, at €65 for 9 excellent - and decent sized - portions, is very good value.
First Impressions? Saturday lunchtime in September. Things are quiet when we arrive. Namak's interior is quite simple, but stylish. We opt for outside, in the shade.
USP? Madrid. Michelin Guide. Indian with Iberian ingredients. Not many more to choose from.
The offer in three words? Classy. Spicy. Filling!
Service? Excellent throughout, dishes arriving at the right rhythm.
Eat me! Check out the tasting menu.  Shakarkandi Chaat is a must try, and arrives as a generous portion for two. It's a roasted sweet potato salad with excellent chutneys and, miracle, cauliflower turned into a delicious crunchy topping. Served chilled, the spicing lingers on the palate for an age - even when you've tried not to greedily demolish it in an undiginifed manner, I failed at that. Enthusiastically.
Chutneys Also on the highlight list, make sure you keep your sauces on your table. The pineapple and chilli is first class. Two more turn up with four meaty - fusion alert! - Secreto de Iberico momos. Piazi Naan is an enigma. More like a pizza bread or thin focaccia flecked with onion it was the only element that misfired for us,
Dal Makhani sadly we couldn't finish, but it's a great, tasty and filling choice. Kashmiri Rogan Josh was another impressive one, starting off seemingly mild itgently built the heat and flavour. I confess I couldn't resist trying with the mint chutney. Lamb with mint sauce isn't just for a Sunday lunch in Surrey,
Teach me!  Namak means salt in hindi.
Friend friendly? We don't know if the tasting menu adapts, but Namak's a la carte is extensive, so one would hope so.
Rating for dating? Interior would lend itself. Not one for the budget conscious though.
Tip? Yes.
Change one thing? That Naan.
Revisitability? Yes, if someone's treating me. But, honestly, there are lots of other treats I would like to try too.
