Hopes? The impression is that this is not your granny's mexican place. Will we find style, depth of flavour and a touch of class?
Reality? Like Mr Bon Jovi, it's halfway there. While the dishes have some depth and class they need to be shown off to their best. it needs to be more Mexican.
First Impressions? Like walking into a sepia photograph, with the subjects somehow still in colour. Living inside photoshop must be like this.
USP? Memorable ambience.
The offer in three words? Smartened up classics.

Eat me!  The Sopecitos were a very smart 4-piece of mini tortillas and classic toppings  including a decent tinga/mole match up and cochinita which needed a touch more acidity. But this pretty dish is very nearly recommendable except for....spoilers! Alanmbre really didn't look the most attractive when it arrived, but this megasplodge of meats peppers and cheese was really comforting wrapped in tortillas. And could have been excellent but for....shhh, spoilers. Prawn avocado and mole tacos (2 for €6) were tasty, but prawn and mole feels more a flavour collision than a combination. Carlota de Limon finished things off and was a wedge of layers of mass produced sugary cream. Very disappointing.
Service! Friendly, excellent radar. No time wasted at all. Good.
Friend friendly? Navigable, but not going out of its way to be equally accessible.
Rating for dating? The surroindings are probably excellent for second or third. Maybe mexican is a bit too hands on for first encounters.  That said, hands on may well be what you're after. One way or another.
Tip? Yes for service.
Change one thing? Spoiler warning. Aside from that dessert which we shan't talk about again, the dishes were crying out, positively shouting themselves into sore throats, for sauces. We kept back an excellently oomphy chipotle we'd got with our aperitif tortillas, and lucky we did. Our three generally successful dishes would have felt rather bland and one dimensional otherwise. Guys, get some mango chilli on the table. And some green tomatillo. Add a couple of lime wedges somewhere. And some of that terrific tajin seasoning you can buy everywhere these days. The dishes are good, and with the condiments to add the love, fun and excitement, they'd be heading towards great.
Revisitability. The food offer just doesn't demand it at the moment.
