What's the story?
Reliably tasty classic Indian flavours.
Madrid's got various Taj Mahals. Which might make it seem a bit over-equipped when India's only got the one.
Online, the city's not short of Indian restaurants, full stop. Dozens of them. Prices vary a fair bit, but menus tend to the traditional and, let's be honest, the predictable. Blackberry chutney, Treacle tamarind fries and Chicken 65 haven't made their names here yet. We wait in hope.

So, what happens when, practically, that leaves you choosing from a load of similar offers, more or less at random? You have to channel your inner Pharrell - and get lucky. This delivery came from a Taj Mahal overlooking Calle Princesa - at the Plaza España end - and, happily, we chose wisely.

Shall we start with a highlight? Okey dokey, then. How about the best naan we've had in Madrid in a month of Sundays? Admittedly that just be April which felt like a month of Sundays, but look, we went for Peshwari and it couldn't really have been better or, considering it came on a bike, fresher. Naan better this year, in fact.

Two paneer rolls were about right, arriving suitably crunchy, although a pot of dipping sauce wouldn't have hurt - or broken the bank. Chana Bhuna was suitably savoury with a decent depth of spice. A touch less seasoning would have been fine by us, but the naan's sweetness helped balance things.

A trio of Chicken Tandoori pieces - Legs 2, Thighs 1 - was excellent. Perfectly cooked, well spiced. Some is sitting in the fridge, to be eaten cold in a day or so. There was going to be something left over and we judged a) that'd work best, getting us an extra snack event, and b) we had therefore be obliged to polish off our Lamb Rogan Josh, with moppage duties taken on by the rest of that delicious bread. Coinicidentally, the LRJ was another big success, not madly hot, but the tastiest sauce of the day with real creamy moreishness to it. We forced ourselves to enjoy the sweet naan/savoury sauce combination to the max. You've got to take your pleasures these days, don't you?

Food arrived in not really reusable plastic. We provided our own rice, drinks and a touch of Mango Chutney. €40 or so felt a pretty good deal.
